Intermediate Sewing-----Button-Down Shirt Sewing Class
In this class, you will learn how to sew a classic button-down shirt from start to finish!
You'll learn essential garment-sewing techniques while creating a stylish, professional finished shirt you can wear with confidence.
You will learn reading and working with a button-down shirt pattern, fabric selection and accurate cutting techniques, constructing and attaching a shirt collar, attaching sleeves, creating buttonholes, properly placing and attaching coordinating buttons (sewing them on). You will also learn proper pressing techniques, so you achieve clean, polished and professional looking seams and finishes.
Materials and Supplies:
A working Sewing Machine
A Button-Down Shirt Pattern (Simplicity, McCall or Butterick)
2.5 yards of cotton fabric for a medium shirt or 3 yards of cotton fabric for a large shirt.
1 yard of light weight interfacing
Coordinating thread and buttons
Scissors, pins and a measuring tape

| Instructor Bio: | Anthony learned sewing, designing and creating from his mother, his talents are many. He has since learned the art of Machine Embroidery, Edge to Edge Quilting and Free Motion. One of his greatest loves is using "scrap" fabric to create his designs. We are so blessed to have Anthony in the shop more since his 2nd or 3rd retirement from Nursing. |
