Beginning Sewing ----Trick or Treat Bag
Sewist will use their knowledge of basic sewing skills to create a tote bag using straight line sewing, top stitching, fusible interfacing and (optional: cotton webbing to create handles for the tote). The Sewist should bring their sewing machine, basic sewing tools; scissors and/or a rotary cutter, tape measure, fabric markers, pins or clips, coordinating thread and a seam ripper. If you do not have a machine, you can rent one from Quilt 'N Fabric for a cost of $5.00 per day.
Supplies and Materials:
3/4 yard of two (2) coordinating fabrics
3/4 yard of medium interfacing, or
3/4 yard of oft and stable interfacing
1 yard of pom-pom fringe
Coordinating thread
1 yard of cotton webbing (optional)

| Requirements: | Sewist must be able to read and understand a simple pattern (layout, cutting & marking). Additionally, the Sewist mut be confident using a sewing machine, (winding bobbins, threading the machine and sewing straight lines with a consistent seam allowance). |

| Instructor Bio: | Ms. Sheilah was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began her love for sewing when taking a summer class from the Mothers' for Equal Education Community Enrichment Program. Her love for fabrics and teaching led her on a journey specializing in Children's Fashions, Dress Designing and finally moving into Tailoring. You may find her perusing the aisles in any fabric store swaying to Gospel & Old School music. |
