Intermediate Sewing - Re-purposing Old Clothes - Denim Tote Bag



The goal of this class is to deconstruct a garment to create a craft project. This class will focus on turning an old pair of jeans into a tote bag. The following skills will be used in the class: 

   -Following simple measures to create a craft project
   -Using two types of interfacing in a project
   -Sewing lining inside a project
   -Merging different fabrics together
   -Working with magnetic snaps
   -Working with cotton webbing

SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS

Old pair of jeans
3/4 yards of lining
3/4 yards of fusible lightweight interfacing
1 yard of soft and stable
2 yards of cotton webbing
Basic sewing tools


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Intermediate Beginner
Requirements: Students must be confident in threading the machine, winding bobbins, straight line sewing, seam allowance, adjusting stitch length and crisp corners.
