Beginning Sewing 100 - Pin Cushion
The goal of this class is to teach the basics of sewing in preparation for sewing and quilt piecing! This is the perfect class for true beginners who have never sewn before and don't know where to start. You'll learn basic stitches, terms, how to use a machine, basic tools, and more!
Techniques you will learn:
- Hand Sewing
- Threading needle
- Stitches (basic stitch, slip stitch, basting stitch)
- Sewing on buttons
- Machine
- Threading bobbins
- Threading machine
- Stitches (straight stitch, zig zag stitch, decorative stitches)
- Seam allowance (1/4, ½, 5/8 inch seams)
- Seam finish (stitch or sheer)
- Ironing (importance of no steam)
Materials Needed:
- Scissors (Must be used for fabric only)
- Needles (hand & machine needles)
- Bobbins (correct one for machine) – Quantity -2
- Thread* (good quality all-purpose thread, exclude Coats & Clark)
- Ruler* (6” or longer)
- Pin Storage
- Seam Ripper
- Optional – Tracing wheel/paper
